Based on Araminta Hall’s novel of the same name, the new Apple TV limited series “Imperfect Women” examines a crime that shatters the lives of a decades-long friendship of three women. The unconventional thriller explores guilt and retribution, love and betrayal, and the compromises we make that alter our lives irrevocably. As the investigation unfolds, so does the truth about how even the closest friendships may not be what they seem.

Katie Doll for CBR:

Imperfect Women is fascinating. At one point or another, all these women make horribly misguided choices based on desire or fear, or both. These are moments that the audience should hate them for, but the writing crafts them in such an empathetic light that the most people can do is disagree with them. Of course, they can all be aggravating. But the annoyance stems more from the complicated feelings of hating that they made the wrong choice, yet the audience can’t bring themselves to hate the character.

Imperfect Women is not really about a death, but rather the grief friends experience after said death. It’s a beautiful investigation into the complexity of female friendships, shutting out the old notion that women are simply crawling with jealousy with no love in their heart. In actuality, it paints women in a realistic, human light. They are not perfect, but that’s exactly what makes them and this story captivating.

MacDailyNews Take: Sounds just like the wife’s new show.
